The Grantwriting
Workshop, a nuts-and-bolts course presented by the Houston Community
College Center for Grantsmanship, is designed to jump-start beginners
and refine the skills of seasoned grantwriters. The professional
teaching staff, with more than 45 years of combined experience, leads
you through the steps of writing competitive public and private grant
proposals. Follow the workshop tips and proven techniques to learn
- How to design a program that appeals to funding agencies
- Where to find grant opportunities
- How to identify the right funding source for you
- Why the budget is a critical part of your proposal
- How to tailor your proposal to the funding source
- How to make your proposal stand-out and win the grant
Writing a Competitive Proposal:
- Public and private grant proposals: the similarities and the differences
- How to grab the reader's attention
- Researching and writing the statement of need or problem statement
- Writing to the funder's requirements
- The dos and don'ts of writing a winning proposal
- How funders judge proposals
- The executive summary or abstract: Write it last!
- Writing style
- Accepted or rejected: Now what do you do?
